SEO for a terraces & pergolas business: from Google's page two to page one
What does a year of focused SEO look like in numbers? This case study shows the real results of working with a terraces & pergolas business. I'm not naming the client (an NDA), but the Google Search Console data speaks for itself.
Where things started
The website had weak visibility in organic search. For key queries it sat around position 15 — page two of Google, where only a fraction of people ever click. Search traffic was low, and so were leads. The site effectively wasn't working as a source of new business.
The goal
Get the site onto page one of Google for queries with real buying intent (terraces, pergolas and related products), significantly lift organic traffic and, above all, turn it into a steady source of leads.
What we did
We worked systematically and measurably — no one-off tricks, just honest long-term work:
- Keyword research — mapping what people actually search for, by buying intent.
- Technical SEO — speed, indexing, site structure and the mobile version.
- On-page optimization — titles, meta descriptions, heading structure and category and product content.
- Content — targeted content for customer queries that answers what they're solving before buying.
- Internal linking — connecting pages so both Google and visitors find their way easily.
- Link building — gradual and quality, not bought-in bundles.
- Ongoing evaluation in Search Console and fine-tuning based on data.

Business impact
Search Console numbers are nice, but business is what counts. And here's the headline result: thanks to far higher and, crucially, more relevant search traffic, leads through the site increased several times over. Organic search went from a marginal channel to one of the main sources of new business — with no paid ads, so every extra lead costs nothing more.
The takeaway
SEO is a long game and results compound gradually — but that makes them more lasting. Once traffic is built, it keeps working for the business, unlike ads that stop the moment the money runs out. The key is consistency: keywords, technical work, content and links all pulling the same way — and measured and tuned along the way.
